The study of surface physics and surface interactions is essential in understanding energy transfer, determination of surface structure, surface dynamics, surface chemistry, catalysis, and many other fundamental phenomena. The surface theory group at Clemson carries out research on the scattering of atoms and molecules from interfaces with the objective of using such experiments to obtain fundamental information about the microscopic nature of surfaces.
