This is the Home Page for the MTHSC 108H taught by Professor Warner. This page contains a hyperlink to the syllabus, and hyperlinks to other resources will be added as they become available. Some of these documents will be in Adobe portable document format and can be read and printed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader which is installed on most campus machines.

Handouts

  1. Rational Function Handout: This handout illustrates the use of partial fraction expansions to integrate rational functions. There is also a Maple worksheet.
  2. Section 6.1 Homework Handout: This handout illustrates the calculation of areas between curves. There is also a Maple worksheet.
  3. Taylor Series Handout: This handout illustrates the use of a Taylor series to approximate a function more accurately than the straight forward formula. It also illustrate how to compute a bound on the error using Taylor's Theorem with remainder. There is also a Maple worksheet.
  4. Kepler and the Orbit of Pluto Handout: This handout illustrates the different formulas and approaches to calculating the properties of Pluto's orbit including the average speed for 1/8 of a Puto year when starting at the perihelion versus the aphelion. There is also a Maple worksheet.
