The Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility (C2<\/sup>M2<\/sup>) would like to congratulate our Center Director, Dr. Mashrur \u201cRonnie\u201d Chowdhury on his co-authored papers receiving the 2015 and 2017 IEEE ITS Society George N. Saridis Best Transactions Paper Award for Outstanding Survey. The first authors of the papers, Dr. Mizanur “Mizan” Rahman and Dr. Kakan Dey, are Dr. Chowdhury\u2019s former Ph.D. students and are currently assistant professors at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and West Virginia University, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These awards are only given out every few years and submitted papers must pass a rigorous selection process that evaluates Google scholar citations for three years after publication and selection by an award review committee. In the award announcement, the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society had the following to say about this award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2015, the Board of Governors of IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society had approved the proposal to name the Best Paper Award in IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems as the George N. Saridis Best Transactions Paper Award. After nearly five years of preparation and planning, and almost one year of hard and concentrated effort by the Award Committee, we are pleased to announce the 2014\u20132017 George N. Saridis Best Transactions Paper Award for papers published in the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Rahman is the former Assistant Director of the C2<\/sup>M2<\/sup> and a former C2<\/sup>M2<\/sup> supported student. Dr. Dey is a Clemson graduate and a founding member of the C2<\/sup>M2<\/sup> Advisory Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
