Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this year&#8217;s conference was held virtually, and looked a little different, but was well attended and informative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s conference was opened by Dr. Mashrur &#8220;Ronnie&#8221; Chowdhury who welcomed our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Imed Othmani, Global Quantum Consulting Leader, from IBM. Dr. Othmani gave a presentation on the existing development of quantum computing and future promises (both short and long-term) of quantum&nbsp;computing with a specific focus on transportation\/smart cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Othmani&#8217;s presentation was followed by our State of the Center Address, where our C<sup>2<\/sup>M<sup>2<\/sup> Associate Directors&#8217; each gave a presentation spotlighting individual projects led by their respective institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a brief break our afternoon session kicked off with a Three Minute Student Presentation Competition. Ten students representing our five consortium institutions gave a three minute presentation on their ongoing center related research. These presentations were rated by a panel of judges and the following students received recognition for their work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1<sup>st<\/sup> Place \u2013 Fengjiao Zou &#8211; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; $150 prize<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place \u2013 Akshatha Ramesh- &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; $100 prize<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3<sup>rd<\/sup> Place \u2013 Vishal Badyal and Zadid Khan &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;$50 prize<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most Dynamic Speaker \u2013 Aiden Puzzio&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; $25 prize<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most Innovative Research \u2013 Bhavya Padmanabhan&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; $25 prize<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student presentation competition was followed by a discussion session on &#8220;<strong>The Expanding Job Space in Transportation<\/strong>&#8221; led by Dr. Sakib Mahmud Khan, our Center Assistant Director, and wrapped up with a  <em><strong>Quantum Algorithms for Transportation Applications<\/strong><\/em> workshop led by IBM.
