The Carbon Ring is a network of research groups and infrastructure located around the world. The Ring partners routinely exchange researchers, from undergraduates to postdoctoral level, towards the long term of understanding how to engineer carbon forms, at multiple length scales, to meet a desired performance. Hence, the partners in the Carbon Ring comes from multiple disciplines that converge in this interdisciplinary conglomerate. Such network has enabled significant advances on the understanding of the processing and properties of carbon derived by the thermal treatment of organic precursors.
From its inception in the early 2000’s at the University of California, Irvine the Carbon Ring has now spread all over the world. Members of the Carbon Ring meet once a year to share results and discuss strategic directions.
