Daniel Lopes da Silva<\/strong> (President) <\/p>\n\n\n

Daniel Lopes da Silva is a highly motivated 3rd year PhD student in Industrial Engineering at Clemson University. Working under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Sharkey and Dr. Yongjia Song, his research focuses on developing innovative optimization models to effectively disrupt human-trafficking networks. Daniel holds a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering, and is currently serving as the President of the INFORMS Student Chapter at Clemson University. With a keen interest in network optimization, bi-level programming, and network reliability, he is passionate about applying operations research tools to address pressing social issues.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dixizi (Krystal) Liu is a PhD student in Industrial Engineering. Her research interests are machine learning, natural language processing, and healthcare. She wants to focus on applying artificial intelligence and big data analytics to improve healthcare management.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martha Lucia Sabogal De La Pava<\/strong><\/strong> (Treasurer) <\/p>\n\n\n

Martha Sabogal De La Pava is a third-year Ph.D. student in Industrial Engineering. She is working with Dr. Emily Tucker on stochastic optimization models to study disruptions and emerging threats to pharmaceutical supply chains. She focuses on global drug shortages and supply chain design and performance. Martha earned her M.Sc. and B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad del Valle in Colombia. She loves traveling and learning about different cultures.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farzad Zeinali<\/strong><\/strong> (Director of Communications) <\/p>\n\n\n

Farzad is a second-year PhD student in the IE department under the supervision of Dr. Taaffe. Prior to Clemson, he worked as an operations analyst and project planner in Iran. His research interests lie in the application of operations research to improve healthcare systems’ processes, where he hopes to build upon his practical experience and master’s studies. Currently, his research focuses on two areas: (1) Improving emergency departments’ operations for children with behavioral issues and (2) using simulation-based optimization techniques and predictive analysis to do real-time capacity planning in hospitals.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yan Wu is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University. Under the guidance of Dr. Qi Luo and co-advised by Dr. Yuyuan (Lance) Ouyang, Yan’s primary research interest is at the intersection of transportation, reinforcement learning, inverse optimization, and online learning. Her research journey is defined by a commitment to addressing real-world challenges in optimization problems within transportation systems.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Luo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (joint) at Clemson University. His primary research interest is in the areas of data-driven decision-making in operations management, transportation, and healthcare systems. His research has been recognized by prizes such as the Kikuchi-Karlaftis Best Paper Award, the INFORMS APS Best Student Paper (finalist), and I-Sim Best Student Paper.
