Outreach

The Pilla Research Lab engages in creating opportunities for K-8, high-school and undergraduate students. The lab has actively participated in Clemson’s flagship programs such as creative inquiry, SPRI, EUREKA and summer scholars. In fact, Dr. Pilla was instrumental in introducing several of these programs within the Automotive Engineering department. Dr. Pilla also organized, participated and presented at various plastics and composites outreach programs, and educational events. It is also in the philosophy of our outreach platform to involve parents who will then help to increase participation from their kids. The intent is to continue these activities by engaging local and neighboring professional divisions/sections, high schools, the university’s native programs, etc., to promote the research underway in Pilla Research lab, various AuE departmental activities and university-wide educational initiatives.
