Are you unsure of what research is?  Are you interested in research, but not sure how to start?  Are you engaged in a research project but feel lost in the weeds?  This class will prepare you to enter a research project the following term and better understand applying to STEM graduate school programs. The content is organized into the following four sections:

(1)    What is research and who conducts research

(2)    Undergraduate research opportunities and how to apply to them

(3)    Skills and best practices for conducting research

(4)    STEM degrees and graduate school

 

This 1 credit CI will take place this Spring Mondays from 9-9:50 AM and will be cotaught by Ms. Allard (associate director of the Creative Inquiry program), Dr. Kennedy (Materials Sci. & Eng.) and Dr. Alper (Physics & Astronomy).  If you are interested, go ahead and read the draft syllabi (attached) and then sign up during your registration window (ECAS 2990 (401).  The course will be limited to 30 students.
