Calling all FRC alumni and all volunteers interested in robotics!

If you are not familiar with FIRST® Robotics Challenge [FRC], it is a robotics competition for students in grades 9-12. If you want to know more about FRC, click here.

Many of this year’s competitions were canceled due to COVID-19, but a group of people FRC alumni has put together an off-season event called SCRAP –> South Carolina Robotics and Practical.  It will be held on August 7 & 8, 2021 near Columbia SC (location TBD, see contact info for details).  SCRAP will need about 60-70 dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers to help the competition run smoothly.  Many of our South Carolina teams have fully built their robots already, in anticipation of a normal year.  Not only would this be great for these students’ growth and inspiration, but Clemson University’s and the department’s image as well.

We want ALL elementary, middle, and high school students to see their future in the undergraduate and graduate students of today.

Look forward to other upcoming opportunities to volunteer with FLL and FTC tournaments that will begin in the fall of 2021 (FIRST® LEGO® League [FLL] for students in grades 4-8. and FIRST® Tech Challenge [FTC] for students in grades 7-12.)  An official FRC Regional will be in the spring of 2021.  We desire to showcase the diversity, the opportunity, and the sheer fun of being involved in STEAM events.

The class of 2021 has lost so much.  If you could help us to make SCRAP a success, they would get to have a taste of FRC’s best feature: up-close robots v. robots.
