Graduate Opportunities: Our research group is looking for motivated graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.) interested in conducting research on vibrations, metamaterials, intelligent structures, and wave propagation. Qualified candidates will have previous experience and/or interest in these topics. A strong background in one or more of the following areas is a plus:

  • theoretical models of dynamic mechanical systems (e.g., first-principles derivations of structural dynamics or phononic band structures)
  • numerical simulations: basic programming (e.g., MATLAB) and finite element analysis (e.g., COMSOL)
  • experiments: design and fabrication of architected structures (e.g., CAD design, laser cutting, CNC machining, 3D printing) and experimental testing of dynamic mechanical systems (e.g., vibration measurements)

Interested candidates are encouraged to email Prof. Dorin their resume/CV and a description of how their background and interests align with the direction of the group. Prospective M.S. or Ph.D. students should follow Clemson ME’s application process and indicate an interest in working with our group in their application materials.

Undergraduate Opportunities: We encourage Clemson undergraduate students interested in our work to reach out about potential undergraduate research opportunities. Please email Prof. Dorin your resume/CV and a summary of your skills and interest in the group.
