{"id":75,"date":"2016-01-21T10:50:53","date_gmt":"2016-01-21T15:50:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cecas.clemson.edu\/~ashokm\/?page_id=75"},"modified":"2016-01-31T00:00:25","modified_gmt":"2016-01-31T05:00:25","slug":"classes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cecas.clemson.edu\/~ashokm\/classes\/","title":{"rendered":"Classes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Applied Hydraulics and Hydrology<br \/>\n<\/strong>The course will provide an overview of\u00a0the fundamentals of water resources engineering in the fields of hydrology and hydraulics. \u00a0Different topics to be covered in this course\u00a0are: \u00a0hydrologic cycle, rainfall analysis, evaporation, infiltration, runoff, hydrograph, \u00a0flow routing, hydraulic principles, \u00a0channel design, and groundwater basics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hydrologic Analysis and Design<br \/>\n<\/strong>The course will provide an introduction to the development and application\u00a0of engineering design methods. Realistic case-study examples demonstrate the application of widely used hydrologic models, including peak discharge estimation, frequency analysis and urban drainage components. All phases of the hydrologic cycle are discussed, with an emphasis placed on small watershed design, urban hydrology, and to gain expertise on \u00a0HEC-HMS hydrologic model.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Water Resources Planning and M<\/strong><b>anagement<br \/>\n<\/b>Water is an essential resource for societal needs, important for domestic, agriculture, energy, ecology and sustainability of ecosystem. Water resources planning and management (WRPM) in the 21st century will witness more challenge due to limited water availability and increase in water demands. This challenge is further compounded by other climate extremes (e.g., drought). The focus of this course is to equip students with scientific skills and concepts to deal with the complex and interdisciplinary world of water resources management.
