Center for Computational Structural Acoustics (CCSA)

Vision Statement

Develop and implement advanced computational methods for application to structural acoustics. Structural acoustics and vibration is the study of how sound and mechanical structures interact; for example, the transmission of sound through walls and the radiation of sound from vehicle panels. The methods developed will be reliable, efficient, and accurate. Algorithms will be capable of running in parallel on modern computer architectures. Special emphasis is placed on the interaction of acoustic fluids and structures together with boundary treatments for exterior regions. Applications include three-dimensional scattering and radiation from reinforced shell structures including shock response.
