The Light Factory includes undergraduates pursuing their B.S. and graduate students pursuing their M.S. or Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, as well as visiting scholars from across the globe. The group has been represented at international conferences and awards.<\/p>\n

Trofimov graduated in physics from the Russian State University of Aviation Technology in 2012. In 2014 he earned a master’s degree from Clemson University in materials science and engineering, and the same year, began his Ph.D.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Artem joined Jacobsohn Research Group while pursuing his Ph.D. degree also in materials science and engineering. He graduated with the dissertation \u201cMicrostructure, Luminescence, and Performance of Garnet Polycrystalline Ceramic Scintillators\u201d in May 2018. Under Dr. Jacobsohn advising, Artem was the recipient of the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference Trainee Grant (2017), the graduate 3rd place of the 12th Annual MRS and OSA Materials and Optics Poster Competition at Clemson University (2017), the 2nd place of the 20th Annual Southeast Ultrafast Conference Poster Competition (2017), the 1st place of the Ceramic, Composite and Optical Materials Center Poster Competition (2016), and the 1st place of the Ruska Award Student Competition from the Southeastern Microscopy Society (2015). After graduation, Artem was a postdoctoral research associate with Oak Ridge National Laboratory for several years and then transitioned to be a senior application scientist with Orton Ceramic Foundation.<\/p>\n

Wu graduated in materials science and engineering from Georgia Tech in 2016. In 2017, she joined Jacobsohn Research Group to pursue her master’s degree, also in materials science and engineering at Clemson.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She graduated with the thesis \u201cControlled Synthesis and Characterization of ZnS: Ag Scintillator\u201d in November 2018. Under Dr. Jacobsohn’s advising, Michelle was the recipient of a Glass & Optical Materials Division of the American Ceramic Society Registration Grant in 2018. Later, she joined the Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology at Georgia Tech as a research scientist.<\/p>\n
