EM Modeling Using SPICE Circuit Solvers

Circuit Board

Researchers at Clemson University combined Finite Element electromagnetic analysis techniques with SPICE circuit solvers to perform fast and accurate electromagnetic simulations. SPICE analysis is generally faster than traditional matrix solvers and can be performed in both the time and frequency domains. FEM-SPICE analysis is also a very effective technique for solving full-wave electromagnetic modeling problems that include linear or nonlinear circuit elements. The result of this project was a robust computational method for modeling complex circuit/structural EM geometries from DC to several GHz.
