Tim Richter has over fifteen years in the consulting and renewable energy industries having held senior positions in project development, project management, and business development. Tim’s career started off in engineering consulting where he spent 8 years solving complex geological and civil engineering problems within infrastructure development for a wide variety of global industrial, pulp & paper, wood products, transportation, and commercial clients. Tim left consulting to join the owner’s-side of development and construction within the renewable fuel space in 2006 where he developed, permitted, and delivered the Osage Bio Energy small-grains to ethanol facility in Hopewell, Virginia in 2010. Tim continued with the project delivery of a portfolio of industrial wood pellet manufacturing and shipping facilities for Enviva and then originated projects for investment by The Earth Partners across the cellulosic and thermal conversion technology opportunities. In 2010, Tim founded an independent consultancy (Matera LLC) focused on project development and strategic advisory services to emerging and expanding companies and dedicated his efforts to Matera in 2015. In the course of Matera work on multiple organic solvent fractionation processes and lignin materials advances over the last four years, Tim has built upon his expertise in mating emerging biomass conversion technologies with targeted business opportunities in the biofuel, bioproduct, and bio energy arenas. Tim holds a B.S.E. in Civil/Geological Engineering from Princeton University and a M.S.E. in Geotechnical Engineering from Northeastern University.
