Dr. Ann Foley is an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at Clemson University with joint appointment in the departments of Cell and Regenerative Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Her lab is located in Charleston on the MUSC campus where she is part of the joint Clemson-MUSC bioengineering program. She earned her Ph.D. in Genetics and Development from Columbia University in 2000 and started her faculty position at Clemson in August of 2013. Her lab is focused on bioengineering a functional biological pacemaker. Her background is in early embryonic development and cardiac regeneration. She is currently the mentor of an undergraduate senior design team that works directly with clinicians from MUSC. These students work on a project to improve the mobility of patients that have been intubated. Her teaching interests include regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and developmental biology.

Yunkai Dai came from Shanghai, China and joined the Bioengineering Department at Clemson University in 2014. He received his BS degree in Biotechnology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2010, and completed his Masters degree in Biology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2013. For his Masters thesis, he mainly focused on the role of srGAP2 Acetylation Modification. His current research aims at understanding the developmental mechanisms of the sinoatrial node, the heart peacemaker. Outside the lab, he enjoys cooking and playing basketball and badminton.
