Mission statement:
The Geo-Institute Graduate Student Organization (GI-GSO) at Clemson University is established with the goal of enriching the geotechnical engineering study experience of the students. The mission statements towards achieving the goal are provided below:
- Increase the interaction between students and faculties.
- Develop a platform to discuss and share the research interests among other fellow students.
- Introduce the students about Geo-Institute (G-I) and encourage them to become the G-I student members.
- Encourage students to participate in different G-I activities.
- Increase the awareness about geotechnical engineering among the undergraduate students and explain them about graduate school opportunities in the field of geotechnical engineering.
- Provide leadership opportunities.
- Establish network with the industries to explore career opportunities.
Objectives:
The objectives of GI-GSO at Clemson University to fulfill its missions are provided below:
- Holding regular meetings.
- Arranging field trips for civil engineering students to the construction sites.
- Increasing the participation of students in G-I/ASCE conferences and competitions.
- Inviting guest speakers to present a talk and encouraging students to establish network with them.
- Arranging the activities involving participation of faculties and students to increase the interaction among them.
