About Us

Mission statement:

The Geo-Institute Graduate Student Organization (GI-GSO) at Clemson University is established with the goal of enriching the geotechnical engineering study experience of the students. The mission statements towards achieving the goal are provided below:

  1. Increase the interaction between students and faculties.
  2. Develop a platform to discuss and share the research interests among other fellow students.
  3. Introduce the students about Geo-Institute (G-I) and encourage them to become the G-I student members.
  4. Encourage students to participate in different G-I activities.
  5. Increase the awareness about geotechnical engineering among the undergraduate students and explain them about graduate school opportunities in the field of geotechnical engineering.
  6. Provide leadership opportunities.
  7. Establish network with the industries to explore career opportunities.

Objectives:

The objectives of GI-GSO at Clemson University to fulfill its missions are provided below:

  1. Holding regular meetings.
  2. Arranging field trips for civil engineering students to the construction sites.
  3. Increasing the participation of students in G-I/ASCE conferences and competitions.
  4. Inviting guest speakers to present a talk and encouraging students to establish network with them.
  5. Arranging the activities involving participation of faculties and students to increase the interaction among them.
