The NSF Industry/University Center for Electromagnetic Compatibility

The NSF I/UCRC for Electromagnetic Compatibility is a group of 3 universities and approximately 20 companies working together to conduct research that helps companies to design products that are free from electromagnetic interference problems. The center began at the University of Missouri-Rolla as the UMR EMC Expert System Consortium in 1995. In 1999, it became the UMR EMC Consortium and in 2007, it was renamed the UMR/MST EMC Consortium when the University of Missouri-Rolla changed its name to the Missouri University of Science and Technology. In 2009, in collaboration with Clemson University, the University of Houston and the University of Oklahoma, the consortium became an NSF I/UCRC.

In the past 19 years, the consortium/center has sponsored research that has helped dozens of companies to address EMC issues with their current and future products. Today, the center membership is approximately 20 companies representing many sectors of the electronics industry. Center-funded research helps these companies keep up with the latest advances in the field so that their products meet all EMC requirements and their engineers have access to the latest EMC design tools and technologies.
