HUMAN MOVEMENT BIOMECHANICS LAB

Research

Vision

We want to help people avoid pain and injury, recover fast and effectively, and optimize performance for a lifetime.

Mission

    i. Discover the multifactorial nature of mobility impairment, mechanisms of injury and favorable adaptation, and principles of optimal performance and fitness.
ii. Develop tools and techniques for human movement biomechanics and guidance for their use.
iii. Educate. Knowledge is power and biomechanics is cool. We want to let the world know.

Core Values

    i. Of the Scientist
    1. Humility. We are HuMBL after all. But seriously, rarely does scientific malpractice happen without pride. We celebrate wins in our field, regardless of who they come from. This doesn’t mean we’re not confident; we want to be the best at what we do. But we are not our first priority.
    2. Integrity. Honest and transparent about data, results, approach, and limitations.
    3. Initiative. Put your name on the project. Own it. Lead it. Make it happen.
    ii. Of the Science
    1. Rigor. No magic, but rather calculated and grounded. We seek a deep understanding of the tools and techniques we use and the concepts we study. We balance theory and practice and are not careless for the sake of expediency.
    2. Quality. Done the right way, with no shortcuts. In design, collection, analysis, and dissemination.
    3. Impact. Even of one person’s life. Noteworthy discoveries. Tools that get used.
