Sudhan Bhattarai (President)
Sudhan is a PhD student in Department of Industrial Engineering (Supervised by Dr. Yongjia Song). His research interests are in the field of optimization and data science. His current research is in optimization of disaster logistics under uncertainty where he works to optimally build a hurricane evacuation plan under uncertainty.
Daniel Lopes da Silva (Vice-President)
Daniel is a second-year IE Ph.D. student working with Dr. Thomas Sharkey and Dr. Yongjia Song. His research interests include theory and applications of network optimization. He is currently working in modeling and disrupting human-trafficking networks, as well as developing methods to estimate the reliability of heterogeneous network systems.
Soumya Pathy (Treasurer)
Soumya is pursuing a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering under Prof. Hamed Rahimian. Before joining Clemson University, he completed his Masters in Technology in Industrial & System Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, under the supervision of Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari. During his masters, he was selected for the prestigious DAAD-IIT Masters Scholarship program for his research proposal. He was financially supported under the program to visit TU Darmstadt, Germany, and work with Prof. Ralf Elbert on a joint research project. His research interests lie in risk-averse stochastic optimization and its application in supply chains.
Tong Zhang (Director of Communications)
Tong Zhang is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University. Her research interests are stochastic processes, queuing systems, and their applications. She mainly focuses on flexible structures in healthcare systems, cross-trained servers in MDP, and staff allocation and job assignment problems in optimization. She completed a master’s degree in Data Analytics Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, 2019, and a bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Chongqing University, China, 2017.
Sheng-Yin Chen (Director of Operations and Secretary)
Sheng-Yin is a second year PhD student. My research interests include stochastic programming and its applications. I am currently working on a disaster relief problem with Dr.Song. We are building a model to make logistics decisions for housing for an impending hurricane under uncertainty.
Emily Tucker (Faculty Advisor)
Dr. Emily Tucker is an Assistant Professor at Clemson University in the Department of Industrial Engineering. Her research focuses on the application of operations research to societal problems including healthcare policy and supply chain resiliency. She received her PhD and MSE in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. Prior to graduate school, she worked as a Research Health Economist at RTI International and received her BS in Industrial Engineering from NC State.
