Read Me Printing and Nitty Gritty Instructions for Creating the Game

This file just helps you think about how to print up a version of the game to use with your kids or in your classroom.

We recommend just going to a game store or a party store to buy play money in denominations of $1000.  If you can’t find denominations of $1000,  you can use $500 or $100, but $100 get unwieldy unless you chance the rules and the chance cards to reflection denominations of $100. That is easy to do, as both those files are Word files.  While it’s possible to print your own monopoly money, cutting the money out is labor-intensive.

For game markers, we have usually just gone with simple toy erasers—we can usually find them as cars, trucks, trains, or airplanes in different colors. They keep their “loads” bundled for everybody to see by their camps so they don’t clutter the game boards.  We usually just use clips to hold the cards together at camp.

GameRulesFinal is a Word document that contains player instructions and rules.  You can change the denominations and starting allocations if you like.

TeachingMaterials is a guide to the math lessons involved in the game.

FinalBoard.ps is a postscript file that makes it easier for you to print on a large-format printer.  We printed the game board on 24’’ by 36’’ posterboard. Smaller than that is difficult. We’ve also just printed on normal 8 by 10 paper and taped the tiles together—it works fine for a quick game.  It depends on whether you plan to play the game more than once.

The MissionCards.pdf  is a pdf files that has the mission cards for printing. You only need print one copy of this file for each game.  We recommend printing these on white cardstock.

ChanceCards.doc is a word file of the chance cards.  These you can change according to the denomination of play money you have. You need only print one of these per game.  We printed these on light-colored cardstock—we like blue for these.

25units.pdf is a pdf file that allows you to print supply units of 25. Since these are used mostly for trading, you only need to print about 20 cards per game, or two copies of the file.  We recommend printing these on light-colored cardstock. We used canary.

Unitcards.pdf is a pdf file that allows you to print supply units of 25. Since these are used mostly for trading, you only need to print about 20 cards per game, or two copies of the file.  We recommend printing these on light-colored cardstock. We used canary.
