Graduate Students
Duleepa Subasinghe
Duleepa graduated from the University of Kelaniya Srilanka with a BS in Physics and From the University of Colombo Srilanka with an MS in Applied Electronics. He has a strong focus on rehabilitation and sports biomechanics. With a passion for understanding human movement and optimizing performance. His current PhD research is focused on the effects of exoskeleton use and adaptation.

Kshitish is an Industrial Engineering MS student with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University, India. Currently he is focusing on mechanical designs and developing perturbation devices for fall prevention training. During his free time, he likes to read or watch documentaries about world history.

Undergraduate researchers
Alexis Davis
NSF REU H-CORE Recipient
Alexis Davis is a computer science major and mathematics minor at Howard University from Pennsylvania. Her journey into tech began unexpectedly, sparked by the inspiration she found in Black women who were redefining what it means to be a computer scientist. Through the Karsh STEM Scholars Program, she discovered a passion for research and a deeper purpose in human-centered computing. Her interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, psychology, and design—exploring how technology can be shaped to better serve human
needs.
Alexis has conducted research at the University of Virginia, UC Berkeley, and currently in Howard’s Human-Centered AI Lab, where she focuses on developing AR systems for
high-stress decision-making. This summer she brings her interests to the PHASE Lab to broaden her expertise to the field of industrial engineering. She is committed to inclusive and ethical design that improves accessibility for marginalized communities.
Alexis plans to pursue a graduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction to create adaptive, equitable, and
user-centered technologies, while mentoring and advocating for underrepresented scholars in STEM.

Hannah Govert
NSF REU H-CORE Recipient
Hannah Govert is a senior majoring in mathematics and minoring in data science at Bryn Mawr College, joining the PHASE lab as part of the H-CORE REU program. She is actively involved on campus, holding leadership positions as captain of the Bryn Mawr College basketball team and as secretary of the Bryn Mawr College Service Club. Hannah’s experience as a student-athlete informs her academic interests, as she is passionate about many aspects of sports research, including athletic performance, injury prevention, and injury recovery. Hannah is eager to explore human factors research through an industrial engineering lens, adding new depth to her research.

Shane Miller
NSF REU H-CORE Recipient
Shane is a biomedical engineering student from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). She is joining the PHASE lab as part of the H-CORE REU program, which invites undergraduates to explore an interdisciplinary approach to human factors engineering research. Back at UTK, Shane works in the Upper Limb Assist Lab that develops assistive devices and prosthetics for individuals with musculoskeletal disorders. From her research and coursework experiences, she has found a passion for studying human movement and how devices/therapies affect performance. She is excited to consider an industrial engineering approach to biomedical research, as this adds an impactful aspect to biomedical engineering that she has never explored!
