Ph.D. Student Search (Status: Active)

The research lab led by Dr. Robert Le in the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering at Clemson University (South Carolina, United States) is seeking for Ph.D. students, beginning in Spring 2023. The successful candidates will receive graduate assistantships that fully cover the tuition as well as a monthly stipend for the entire Ph.D. program. A student with a master’s degree would tentatively need 3 years. If not, one additional year would be needed. The main job duty is to work on research projects related to advanced computer applications in civil engineering, construction engineering and management, and transportation system management. The lab considers students as a key to being successful. Students’ success is the lab’s success. For this reason, working in this lab, all students will be supported as much as possible to build up necessary skills before they graduate and enter either the academia or industry job market in the US.

Clemson is a public, land-grant institution located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in upstate South Carolina between Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC. Clemson University is currently ranked 23rd among national public institutions by US News and World Report and classified as a Highest Research Activity university by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The Civil Engineering Department is at the forefront of exciting advances in research and education. The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, and management, architectural engineering, or other closely related majors. Students who are currently in the final year of undergraduate study are also eligible to apply.

Selection Criteria: Undergraduate GPA and communication skills (oral and written) are among the most weighted factors. Applicants with programming skills and research experience are preferred.

Selection Process: Dr. Le will review applicants’ CV and contact shortlisted candidates by email to schedule a phone/video interview. The minimum English score is as follows: TOEFL – 80, IELTS – 6.5, PTE Academic – 54. There is no official minimum GRE score requirement, but it shouldn’t be lower than 290.
