Daniel Ponseti
Masters Student
Daniel T. Ponseti received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 2025. He is currently pursuing his master’s in Electrical Engineering at Clemson. He has worked in Transmission Planning at Duke Energy and the Tennessee Valley Authority, where he worked on power flow automation, ambient-adjusted ratings, and system reliability studies. His current research interests include power system relaying, power system modeling, and the integration of renewable energy sources.
Daniel Zintsmaster III
Ph.D. Student
Daniel Zintsmaster III is pursuing a PhD Electrical Engineering at Clemson, where he earned both his B.S. (2023) and M.S. (2024) in Electrical Engineering. His Master’s research focused on the high-speed hardware implementation of novel grid protection algorithms, validated using real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulations. This work led to two conference publications and has been recognized with several awards, including the Clayton Griffin Best Student Paper Award (2024), First Place in the 2023 IEEE PES General Meeting Undergraduate Student Poster Contest, and the John W. Estey Outstanding Scholar Award (2022). Building on this foundation, his current doctoral research focuses on converter-driven oscillation analysis, and stability challenges in power grids with high penetration of Inverter-Based Resources.
Abhilash Gujar
Ph.D. Student
Abhilash Gujar is a Ph.D. candidate in electrical engineering. He has 1 peer-reviewed papers and 2 years of work experience. He has a MS degree from College of Engineering, pune . As part of his masters thesis, he worked on early detection and prevention of aperiodic small signal angle instability. His research interests are power system protection, stability and machine learning. He is presently working on the applications of machine learning models for power system protection.
Siva Alagappa Kulathuran
Ph.D. Student
Siva Alagappa Kulathuran received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India, in 2015, and his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 2019. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Clemson University, USA. He has five years of industrial experience in the design of relays and smart meters for power system applications. His research interests include sensor development, power system relaying, and smart metering, and he is presently working on current measurement techniques for power distribution systems

Jason Sammy Sabet
Energy Storage & Microgrids Engineer
Jason Sammy Sabet earned his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power and Energy from Clemson University in 2023. He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 2022. He has three years of professional experience with Duke Energy and completed his undergraduate thesis on the hardware implementation of DC microgrid protection. For his master’s research, he worked in collaboration with Clemson University and Duke Energy on microgrid protection. His research interests include energy storage, solar systems, AC and DC microgrids, and grid protection.
Dol Raj Kunwar
Power System Engineer
Dol Raj Kunwar earned his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 2023. He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His master’s research focused on analyzing the impact of inverter-based resources on power system impedance. He is currently working at ETAP.
Dr. Shah Mohazzem Hossain
Dr. Shah Mohazzem Hossain earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 2024. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh, in 2012, and his M.Sc. degree in Electrical, Electronic, and Communication Engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Dhaka, in 2019. Prior to his Ph.D., he served as a faculty member in the Department of EECE at MIST. His research interests include grid integration of inverter-based resources, power system protection, stability, and reliability. He is currently with the Bangladesh Military.
Dr. Trupal Patel
R&D Scientist
Dr. Trupal Patel earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 2025. He also received his M.S. degree from Clemson in 2020, where his thesis focused on developing an adaptive protection scheme for a real-world microgrid with 100% inverter-based resources. During his doctoral studies, he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Clemson University and a part-time R&D Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. His research interests include renewable energy integration, power system protection and stability, and the application of machine learning and optimization techniques in power systems. He is currently with Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Dr. Prabin Adhikari
Power Protection and Electronics Engineer
Dr. Prabin Adhikari earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 2024, where he also completed his M.S. degree in 2022. His master’s research focused on evaluating the performance of distance relays in the presence of inverter-based resources. His doctoral work and broader research interests include the protection of inverter-dominated power grids, power system monitoring and control, and adaptive relaying. He is working as Power Protection and Electronics Engineer in Google.
Dr. Munim Bin Gani
Principal Engineer
Dr. Munim Bin Gani earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clemson University in 2023. He has over five years of experience with a Transmission System Operator in Bangladesh and holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. His research focuses on power system protection, microgrids, and dynamic system simulation. He is currently with Quanta Technology, developing protection schemes for LVdc microgrids and HVDC systems.
