STEPS2Clemson (Strategies for Transfers to Engineering to Promote Student Success) provides scholarships and academic support to help domestic, academically talented, low‑income engineering students transfer from Tri‑County Technical College (TCTC) to Clemson University to complete their bachelor’s degree.
The program provides scholarships, structured support, and a community of mentors and peers, starting at TCTC and continuing through graduation at Clemson.
What the Program Offers:
- Scholarships from day one: STEPS2Clemson Scholars receive financial support beginning in their first semester at TCTC and continuing through completion of their engineering degree at Clemson.
- Early and ongoing support: Students participate in co‑curricular activities and connect with peer and faculty mentors to help them thrive academically, socially, and professionally. These supports evolve as students’ progress from TCTC to Clemson, ensuring they have what they need at each stage of their journey.
- A research‑driven approach: The STEPS2Clemson team studies the experiences of transfer engineering students to identify effective practices and share insights with the broader higher‑education community.
These efforts are designed to increase access, improve retention, and support student success throughout the transfer pathway.

STEPS2Clemson is funded by the National Science Foundation S‑STEM program (Grant No. 2527751).
