December 07, 2016, Dr. Joshua Tong visited the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and delivered an invited talk of “Sustainable Clean Energy Based Solid State Ionic Materials and Devices.”

 

November 28-30, 2016, Dr. Joshua Tong participated the MRS 2016 Fall Meeting & Exhibition at Boston and delivered an invited talk of “Cost-Effective Low-Temperature Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells.”

 

November 04, Dr. Joshua Tong’s research of “Direct Conversion of Methane to Ammonia and Ethylene by a Three-Step Thermochemical Cyclic Process: Reduction, Nitridation, and Protonation” was awarded $110,000 by ACS PRF for two years (September 1, 2017 – August 31, 2019).

 

November 1-4, 2016, Dr. Joshua Tong participated the AIChE Natural Gas Utilization Workshop at Morgantown West Virginia.

 

October 24-26, 2016, Dr. Joshua Tong participated the MS&T 16 meeting  at Salt Lake City, Utah and delivered an oral presentation of “Solid State Reactive Sintering for Protonic Ceramics.”

 

October 15, 2016, Our paper of “Protonic transport modification in proton conducting BaCe0.6Zr0.3Y0.1O3−δ with transition metal oxide dopants” was published on Solid State Ionics, 294, 37-42 (2016) (Collaborated with Colorado School of Mines).

 

October 12, 2016, Our MKS  Cirrus 2 MS was successfully installed and is ready to use.

 

October 07, 2016, Our paper of “Zr and Y co-doped perovskite as a stable, high-performance cathode for solid oxide fuel cells operating below 500 °C” was first published in Energy & Environmental Science, 10, 176-182 (2017) (collaborated with Colorado School of Mines).

 

September 18-19, 2016, Dr. Joshua Tong participated the Southeastern Catalysis Society, 15th Annual Fall Meeting at Asheville, North Carolina and delivered a faculty talk of “A Triple Conducting Perovskite Oxide as an Electrocatalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction for Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells.”

July 26, 2016, Mr. Zeyu Zhao started his study as a PhD. student in our SCEL group.

July 10 – July 13, 2016, Dr. Joshua Tong participated the 14th International Conference on Inorganic Membranes at Atlanta, Georgia and delivered an oral presentation of “Low-Temperature Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells”.

 

May 04, 2016, Dr. Joshua Tong participated Clemson University Research Symposium at Clemson, South Carolina and delivered an oral presentation of “Advanced Solid State Ionic Materials and Devices for Energy Conversion and Storage.”

 

January 19, 2016, Dr. Jianhua “Joshua” Tong started to work as an Associate Professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Clemson University. The Tong Group of  “ Sustainable Clean Energy Laboratory” (SCEL) was established.
