In order to use the equipment available in the shop, students must complete our certification process. See the Access tab for more information.
Students are encouraged to obtain their certifications and use the facility to construct class projects, as well as personal projects. Students are also encouraged to learn as much as possible about machining, tools, and other fabrication processes. The shop emphasizes a safe, serious, and educational environment for students to develop an appreciation for tools and machining processes.
Location
The ME Student Shop is located on the first floor (basement) of Cook Engineering Laboratory. Cook Engineering laboratory (#27 on map, quadrant S-10) is located behind Riggs Hall and Fernow Street (directly behind the Chick-fil-A). The facility also houses many of the instruments used in teaching the undergraduate ME lab classes.
