The EXPLORE engineering program is designed to complement classroom instruction by providing resources for hands-on activities. These activities introduce students to engineering and computer science, while also connecting to current SC State Standards.
Our kits and videos bring hands-on experiences to incite curiosity and connections in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Learn By Doing
Teachers may explore our website and choose an activity that best suits their class. Using the online registration form, teachers will share the number of students in each class, and a box will be prepared with all needed materials to complete the activity.
Once the materials arrive, teachers will meet with Maegan Hinson, our Outreach Coordinator, to discuss plans for using the activity in the classroom. We can also set up a live virtual meeting to chat with the students about Clemson engineering!

Partnership
EXPLORE is a collaboration between Clemson University’s College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences and Duke Energy to bring engineering activities to public middle schools (grades 6-8) in the Duke Energy Carolinas and Duke Energy Progress service area in South Carolina.
Teach
For Educators
Throughout the school year, teachers from the list of public middle schools in the service area can request to have the EXPLORE Mobile Lab visit their school by completing the Request Form and indicating the activities they would like to include. The activities are available to all teachers and other educators as a resource and all are encouraged to use and adapt the activities as appropriate for their needs.
