DIRECTOR OF NFIL
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF BIOENGINEERING, CLEMSON UNIVERSITY
ADJUNCT ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF CELL AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE, MUSC
FOUNDING DIRECTOR OF THE BEACH UNDERGRADUATE SUMMER IMMERSION PROGRAM
Dr. Tong Ye earned his Ph.D. in Optics from Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He previously worked in the field of ultrafast spectroscopy and performed time-resolved spectroscopic studies on various biological chromophores during his tenures with several research institutions, including Institute of Chemistry, CAS (chlorophylls), The Hebrew University in Jerusalem (bacteriorhodopsins) and Duke University (skin and eye related pigments, with Dr. John D. Simon ). Then he started his imaging adventure with Dr. Warren S. Warren's lab once at University of Pennsylvania (Radiology) and Princeton University (Chemistry) and later at Duke University. He served as the technical director of Neuroimaging Core in the Alabama Neuroscience Blueprint Core Center (NIH funded) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2013, he started the Nano(-imaging) and Functional Imaging Laboratory with the Clemson-MUSC bioengineering program at Charleston, SC. His research interests include development of high-resolution imaging tools for biological and clinical studies and pursing deeper understanding of homeostasis of extra-cellular matrix.
