An Eventful Spring Season
As we embrace the arrival of summer, it was a busy spring for Sustain SC. From the Energy Forum in Columbia to the BMW Charity Pro-Am Sustainability Summit in Greenville, Sustain SC was all over the state making connections and sparking conversations centered around the sustainability needs in South Carolina. Here’s a look back at all the action.
Sustain SC Energy Forum
On May 3, we brought together a cross-sector of stakeholders for the Sustain SC Energy Forum. It was a chance to address best practices and procedures, discuss how clean energy is revolutionizing the economy, and what the future holds for energy in South Carolina.
The Energy Forum provided three dynamic panel discussions and an opportunity for wide-ranging conversations among elected officials, public, private, and non-profit organizations who have a role in the actions that need to take place to ensure a strong, secure, and competitive energy future for South Carolina.
Member Event at Milliken & Company
On June 15, Milliken & Company hosted Sustain SC members in Spartanburg for a special day centered around the theme, “Working Together to Sustain South Carolina: Manufacturing for Today and Tomorrow.
It was an excellent opportunity to learn how manufacturing companies across the state are implementing sustainability initiatives. Milliken & Company CEO Halsey Cook, Senior Sustainability Manager Josh Riggs, Michael Morris of ZF, Tyrone Ellis of Trane, Joe Bailey of Schaeffler, and Lauren Trapp of AFL each presented case studies on how their companies are working towards a more sustainable future.
Lunch turned into roundtable discussions about obstacles and opportunities for sustainable manufacturing in South Carolina and what needs to happen in order to achieve short and long-term goals. Thank you to Milliken for hosting and to the members who joined us!
BMW Charity Pro-Am Sustainability Summit
On June 9, Sustain SC co-hosted the BMW Charity Pro-Am Sustainability Summit at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville. We enjoyed being a part of important conversations about leadership, sustainability, and the future of South Carolina.
This was the third year for the summit which was attended by dozens of representatives from leading South Carolina corporations such as Milliken & Company, BMW Manufacturing and Michelin. Several SLI Fellows also came out to take part in the conversation. Thank you to everyone who attended, we appreciate your support!
SLI Applications
