It was a very busy summer for Sustain SC! As we dip our toes into the last quarter of the year, there are a lot of exciting things to look forward to this season. A new class of SLI Fellows is starting, we brought our Sips and Sustainability networking event back for September, and we are hosting our second annual Sustainability Symposium next month. Here’s a look at the fall ahead:

Our 2nd Annual Sustainability Symposium is coming up on October 26! We will be back at Central Energy in Columbia. We have an amazing program in the works and are thrilled to welcome this year’s line up of speakers and guests.

New SLI Class 
 
It’s official, Sustain SC and The Shi Institute at Furman University have selected the 2023-2024 class of SLI Fellows! It took months to go through all the applications, we were simply blown away by the interest and caliber of candidates. We look forward to connecting with everyone. Congratulations and welcome!

STEM2030 Future Skills
Workforce Accelerator
There’s a new “S” in STEM—Sustainability! The demand for a workforce equipped with new STEM skills is growing. These unique skillsets are needed in energy, manufacturing, transportation, IT, finance, insurance, health, hospitality and tourism, marketing and communications, agriculture, business services and government jobs.

The STEM2030 Future Skills Workforce Accelerator seeks to identify and remove barriers through innovative thought leadership, partnership, and action to create a robust workforce with sustainability skills for 21st Century economic development in South Carolina.

On September 14, we held our first STEM2030 Future Skills Workforce Accelerator event in Columbia. The panel of experts shared valuable insights, innovative solutions, and success stories surrounding green skills in South Carolina. Thank you to everyone who came out to champion STEM workforce initiatives!
We brought back our Sips and Sustainability networking series this month!   

The first event kicked off in Greenville on September 7. Thank you to HRP Associates for hosting us. It was the trifecta we hoped for—great turnout, great conversation and great people!
