StreamingDEP

StreamingDEP, which is the continuous sorting of particles into streams thanks to the equilibrium between the DEP and drag forces acting on targeted particles when flowing in microfluidic channels. An important contribution of my group has been developing analytical and computational tools to predict the location and width of these cell streams. This new knowledge has been disseminated in several conferences, one publication and another one in process. StreamingDEP is important for the label-free sorting of stem cells of known performance in the context of manufacturing of therapeutic cells. To this end, we are collaborating with Prof. Lisa Flanagan at the UC Irvine Stem Cell Institute towards enabling continuous sorting of neurogenic progenitors from an expanded culture.
