Dr. Joseph Ravi Singapogu joined Clemson University’s Department of Bioengineering as Assistant Professor in January 2018. He is also affiliated with the Institute for Biological Interfaces in Engineering (IBIOE) at Clemson University and is an Embedded Scholar in the Department of Surgery at the Greenville Health System (GHS). Dr.Singapogu’s doctoral work focused on the design and testing of a novel haptic device for rendering force (haptic) feedback useful for laparoscopic surgical skills training. Upon graduation, Dr. Singapogu participated in the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program, exploring the possibility of commercializing the haptic surgical simulation he previously developed. From 2013, Dr. Singapogu was part of the Embedded Scholar program at Clemson and GHS fostering collaborations between clinicians and researchers in the area of medical skills training with simulation technologies. Dr. Singapogu’s research has been funded by both federal and private agencies. He has also served as a reviewer for several leading journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Surgical Innovation and IEEE Transactions on Human Machine Systems.
