Recent News and Awards

April 2024 - Students Prabin Adhikari (PhD) and Daniel Zintsmaster (MS) had their paper Validation and Hardware Implementation of Source-Agnostic Time-Domain Distance Relay, selected as the recipient of the 2024 Clayton Griffin Best Student Paper Award. The paper was presented at the Georgia Tech Protective relaying conference in April.

January 2024 -  Electrical Engineering undergraduate Michael Walters awarded the 2023-2024 IEEE PES John W. Estey Outstanding Scholar Award, which is presented to the top PES Scholar in each region.  

November 2022 - Electrical Engineering senior Daniel Zintsmaster has been awarded the 2022-2023 IEEE PES John W. Estey Outstanding Scholar Award which is presented to the top PES Scholar in each region.  

September 2022 - Power faculty member Zheyu Zhang is launching research to help characterize and apply a new breed of transistor that can withstand the extreme cold of lunar night, as NASA moves closer to sending astronauts back to the moon for the first time since 1972.  

July 2022 -  Sukumar Brahma was awarded Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) Visiting Chair Professorship at Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore for the year 2022-23. IISC is ranked number 1 among Indian universities. The purpose of this Chair position is to stimulate inter-university research in the area of power systems and inform Indian industry professionals about imminent problems faced by the power industry. 

February 2022 -  Congratulations to the team that won an Outstanding Poster Award at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory PV Reliability Workshop! Those from Clemson University are: Buck Brown, Zheyu Zhang, Johan Enslin, Shuangshuang Jin and Ramtin Hadidi.
