On April 1st, graduate student Allison Domhoff successfully defended her PhD thesis. Allison was one of the first two PhD students to join the lab in Fall 2015. Congratulations Dr. Domhoff!

This past weekend, PhD student Nick Gregorich competed at the Southeastern 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition in Mississippi. Nick was one of only 8 students (out of 48) that were selected to present in the Finals. This is the furthest that any Clemson students has gotten in the 3MT competition. This is quite an accomplishment – congrats Nick!

Congratulations to PhD student Apoorv Balwani for his most recent publication in ACS Applied Polymer Materials titled, “Anomalous, Multi-Stage Liquid Water Diffusion and Ionomer Swelling Kinetics in Nafion and Nafion Nanocomposites”. This publication was an Invited Contribution and was Apoorv’s third publication – congrats Apoorv!

Congratulations to PhD students Allison Domhoff (first author) and Apoorv Balwani (second author) for their most recent publication in ACS Applied Energy Materials titled, “Leveraging Nanoparticle Dispersion State To Tune Vanadium Ion Selectivity in Nanophase-Segregated Ionomer Nanocomposites for Redox Flow Batteries”. This is Allison’s and Apooorv’s second publication – congrats Allison and Apoorv!

Last week at the Fall AIChE Meeting, PhD student Allison Domhoff placed 3rd in the “Excellence in Graduate Polymer Research” session for her talk based on her work related to nanoparticle surface functionalization and ionomer structure for membranes utilized in redox flow batteries. Congratulations Allison!!

Congratulations to PhD student Nick Gregorich for his 1st place presentation in the 3-minute thesis (3MT) competition. Nick’s presentation titled, “Green Filtration for Clean Water”, highlighted our work related to lignin-based hydrogels for water purification and bioseparation applications. As the winner of the competition here at Clemson, Nick will travel to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the Southeastern Regional Championship.
