Targeted nanotherapeutics to reverse vascular calcification and elastin regeneration
Degeneration of elastic lamina and vascular calcification are common features of vascular pathology associated with aortic aneurysms, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We developed targeted nanotherapeutics that successfully returned degraded elastin matrix in the mouse model of moderate aortic aneurysms and reversed already developed calcification in both chronic kidney disease and abdominal aortic aneurysms.
