On December 16th, 2020 the Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility (C2M2) offered a half-day Public Cloud Services Workshop titled “Application of Public Cloud Services for IoT Applications” to faculty members of Greenville Technical College and Tri-County Technical College.
Developing private or in-house digital infrastructure for secure real-time processing is expensive and requires substantial expertise, whereas public clouds are now capable of supporting various Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications. This workshop introduced participants to an architectural review and a case study on public cloud computing for IoT. It provided introductory lessons on the use of a public cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS). Participants were taught to implement a simple IoT application through AWS.
