The Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility (C2M2) successfully held our 4th Annual Fall Conference on November 20th, 2020. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s conference was held virtually, and looked a little different, but was well attended and informative.
This year’s conference was opened by Dr. Mashrur “Ronnie” Chowdhury who welcomed our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Imed Othmani, Global Quantum Consulting Leader, from IBM. Dr. Othmani gave a presentation on the existing development of quantum computing and future promises (both short and long-term) of quantum computing with a specific focus on transportation/smart cities.
Dr. Othmani’s presentation was followed by our State of the Center Address, where our C2M2 Associate Directors’ each gave a presentation spotlighting individual projects led by their respective institutions.
After a brief break our afternoon session kicked off with a Three Minute Student Presentation Competition. Ten students representing our five consortium institutions gave a three minute presentation on their ongoing center related research. These presentations were rated by a panel of judges and the following students received recognition for their work:
1st Place – Fengjiao Zou – $150 prize
2nd Place – Akshatha Ramesh- $100 prize
3rd Place – Vishal Badyal and Zadid Khan $50 prize
Most Dynamic Speaker – Aiden Puzzio $25 prize
Most Innovative Research – Bhavya Padmanabhan $25 prize
The student presentation competition was followed by a discussion session on “The Expanding Job Space in Transportation” led by Dr. Sakib Mahmud Khan, our Center Assistant Director, and wrapped up with a Quantum Algorithms for Transportation Applications workshop led by IBM. Videos from our conference can be found on our Youtube channel.
C2M2 would like to thank IBM for their help organizing this year’s conference and ongoing support of our center.
